Woodsball Team Positions
If you are planning a five versus five game of woodsball then you wouldn’t want every player to have the same play style and type of paintball gun. Instead you want to form a team where each person specializes in a certain area and gears a certain way that will better help the paintball team as a whole. Now these positions don’t necessarily have name but I’ll do my best to make them up.
Rusher - In every woodsball team you need a player that is light on their feet and carries a paintball gun that can shoot pretty fast. This is the player that you have lead your team into battle and does all the big rushes towards the enemy team. Their goal is to pretty much be a speedball player in the woods and they are always the one to carry an item such as a flag in a mission objective game.
Marksman - A marksman would be the person that comes in behind the Rusher and is usually equipped with an accurate woodsball marker such as one with a stock. Their job is not to rush into the field but to sit back slightly and try to eliminate as many people as they can. This is basically your average player on the field.
Suppressor – The suppressor’s one and only job is to lay down as much suppressive fire as possible to allow your team to move forward more easily. This player usually carries a gun such as a Tippmann A5 with E-Grip so they not only shoot fast but are loud as well. Using a marker that shoots loudly is more likely to keep the enemies heads down and allow your other teammates to flank around and get an elimination.
Sniper - A paintball sniper is basically someone who moves quietly through the field while staying hidden and gets eliminations that strikes fear into the enemy. A sniper is really good at slowing down the enemy team due to the fact that they will be afraid to move forward when they can’t see their target. An effective paintball sniper is able to shut down the whole side of the field is definitely a useful asset to the team. A sniper in an area without woods just becomes a marksman so that they are always a help.
Hopefully now you get a good idea of what makes an effective woodsball team and you can go out and create one of your own. It’s fun to bring your team to scenario games where you can do missions together and help lead your side to victory. Remember in woodsball the goal is to always have fun and a good team will help make sure you do.
